Some family stories related to war, military service, collaboration, resistance, or silence passed down from generation to generation remain buried for a long time. However, when they are put into words, they become spaces for understanding, transmission, and sometimes healing.
Rencontre Réconciliation offers respectful and secure editorial support for descendants who wish to entrust their family stories for publication.

Each project begins with a discussion to:

• understand your approach and expectations,

• assess the nature of the narrative (testimony, life story, fictionalized biography),

• define the desired format together,

• specify the proposed publication terms.

No publication will be undertaken without your explicit consent.

An editorial partnership to make publication possible

Rencontre Réconciliation cannot publish the submitted reports on its own. Due to limited human and financial resources, part of the editorial work is carried out by SopaLangues, a partner organization specializing in editorial, linguistic, and publishing support.

This partnership makes it possible to:

• guarantee a professional writing and editing framework,

• ensure the editorial quality of the published texts,

• and offer a service at no cost to the storyteller.

The roles are clearly defined:

• welcoming and supporting witnesses,

• providing an ethical and memorial framework,

• validating the project with respect for the witness.

• writing texts based on testimonies,

• editorial and linguistic work,

• formatting publication materials.

Several publication formats available

1. Short eBook – transmission story

An accessible format, designed for first-time writers.

• Stories focused on a specific episode, relationship, or family tradition.

• Deliberately concise volume.

• Digital publication (eBook).

• Audience: general public, readers interested in memoirs.

👉 Stories are developed using questionnaires or guided interviews, adapted to the pace and sensibilities of the witness.

2. Fictionalized biography – long format

A more in-depth project, for those who want a long-term undertaking.

• A story structured over time (several generations)

• In-depth narrative writing

• Substantial volume (several hundred pages)

• Adult audience, readers of life stories and European history

👉 This format is based on a reinforced collection system: in-depth interviews, detailed questionnaires, family documents where possible.

3. Collective collections

Some stories can also be included in thematic anthologies, allowing several individual stories to engage in dialogue around the same historical issue.
