European projects and actions of the Meeting and Reconciliation
Passing on memories to better understand today's Europe
Rencontre Réconciliation develops cultural, memorial and educational projects around family legacies of the Second World War and transgenerational transmissions.
Through conferences, testimonies, publications and European exchanges, our association aims to promote a better understanding of Franco-German memories and stories that have often remained silent for several generations.
Our actions are aimed at a diverse audience: citizens, students, teachers, media libraries, memorial associations and cultural institutions.
European conferences and meetings
The association organizes conferences bringing together French, German and Dutch speakers around war legacies and family transmissions.
These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss:
the memory of the victims;
the journeys of descendants of German soldiers;
Kriegsenkel's stories ("grandchildren of the war");
family silences after 1945;
the transgenerational consequences of conflicts.
Our conferences favour an approach based on listening, understanding and European dialogue.
Some meetings may be offered in a bilingual French/German format.
Family testimonies and stories
Rencontre Réconciliation supports the transmission of family stories related to the Second World War.
These testimonies can take different forms:
written accounts;
interviews;
conferences;
digital publications;
educational projects;
European exchanges.
Our approach aims to preserve memories that have often remained invisible or difficult to transmit.
Publications and educational materials
The association participates in the development of publications related to Franco-German history:
eBooks;
testimonies;
educational booklets;
resources intended for teachers and cultural mediators.
These resources aim to facilitate historical transmission and intergenerational reflection among both young audiences and adults.
European project for the transmission of memory
Rencontre Réconciliation is currently working on the development of a European project dedicated to family memories of the Second World War and their contemporary transmission.
This project aims in particular to:
to promote exchanges between European memorial actors;
develop educational tools;
encourage academic and cultural cooperation;
to promote family stories from different European countries;
to raise awareness among younger generations about contemporary democratic issues.
Contacts and collaborations are currently underway with several European partners.
Educational interventions and partnerships
The association is gradually developing exchanges with:
media libraries;
educational establishments;
universities;
memorial associations;
French and European cultural structures.
Our actions may include:

meetings and debates;
testimonies;
educational projects;
webinars;
